About Canadian Finance Hub
Canadian Finance Hub is an independent comparison site that tracks savings rates, GIC rates, mortgage rates, and credit card offers from Canadian financial institutions. We are not a bank, broker, or licensed financial adviser — we are a reference tool to help Canadians find and compare products before they decide.
Who we are
This site was built to solve a simple problem: Canadian financial product rates are scattered across dozens of bank websites, press releases, and broker comparison tools — many of which have undisclosed commercial arrangements. We built one place where you can see rates side-by-side, understand the trade-offs, and click through to apply directly with the institution.
We are a small independent project, not a subsidiary of any bank or financial institution. Our editorial decisions are not influenced by affiliate relationships. Products with affiliate arrangements are labelled or noted in our disclosure section.
Methodology
Savings & GIC rates
HISA and GIC rates are sourced directly from each institution's published rate pages and verified manually. We update comparison tables at least weekly, and more frequently following Bank of Canada rate decisions. We display the advertised rate — promotional rates are flagged separately with their expiry date. We do not show rates that require a fee, minimum balance, or bundled product unless clearly disclosed.
Bank of Canada reference rates
Overnight rate, prime rate, benchmark mortgage rate, and chartered bank GIC rates are fetched daily from the Bank of Canada Valet API. These are published rates — not forecasts.
Credit cards
Annual fees, earn rates, welcome bonuses, and perks are sourced from each issuer's published card terms and marketing pages. Reward valuations (e.g. cents per point) use widely-accepted community benchmarks and are approximate. We review card data quarterly and following material product changes.
Mortgage rates
Mortgage rates shown are illustrative benchmarks sourced from the Bank of Canada and publicly advertised lender rates. We are not a mortgage broker and do not offer rate holds or applications. Your actual rate will depend on your credit profile, down payment, and lender relationship.
Ranking
Default sort order in our comparison tables is by rate (highest first) unless otherwise labelled. We do not charge institutions for placement or ranking. Affiliate arrangements have no effect on sort order.
Privacy
We do not collect personal information beyond what you voluntarily submit (such as an email address for our newsletter). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
When you click an affiliate link to an external institution's website, that site may place its own cookies on your device and is subject to its own privacy policy. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of external sites.
We use basic analytics to understand which pages are most useful. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors. We do not use tracking pixels or re-targeting advertising.

Not all products we feature have affiliate arrangements. We include products without commissions when they represent good value for Canadian consumers. Products from institutions we have affiliate relationships with are not ranked higher as a result of that relationship.
